Section 3 - Hazards Identification

EMERGENCY OVERVIEW

Appearance: white powder.
Caution! May cause eye and skin irritation with possible burns. May cause respiratory and digestive tract irritation and possible burns. Hygroscopic (absorbs moisture from the air). The toxicological properties of this material have not been fully investigated. This substance may form hazardous decomposition products which may cause possible burns.
Target Organs: None.

Potential Health Effects
Eye: May cause eye irritation and possible burns.
Skin: May cause severe skin irritation with possible burns, especially if skin is wet or moist.
Ingestion: The toxicological properties of this substance have not been fully investigated. Inorganic fluorides can be harmful. Acute exposure to fluorine compounds can lead to digestive tract burns, and abdominal pain. May cause irritation of the digestive tract and possible burns.
Inhalation: May cause irritation of the respiratory tract with burning pain in the nose and throat, coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath and pulmonary edema. The toxicological properties of this substance have not been fully investigated.
Chronic: Chronic inhalation and ingestion may cause chronic fluoride poisoning (fluorosis) characterized by weight loss, weakness, anemia, brittle bones, and stiff joints. Chronic exposure to fluoride compounds may cause systemic toxicity.

Section 4 - First Aid Measures

Eyes: Flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes, occasionally lifting the upper and lower eyelids. Get medical aid immediately.
Skin: Get medical aid immediately. Flush skin with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes while removing contaminated clothing and shoes.
Ingestion: If victim is conscious and alert, give 2-4 cupfuls of milk or water. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Get medical aid immediately.
Inhalation: Remove from exposure and move to fresh air immediately. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. Get medical aid.
Notes to Physician: Treat symptomatically and supportively.

Section 5 - Fire Fighting Measures

General Information: As in any fire, wear a self-contained breathing apparatus in pressure-demand, MSHA/NIOSH (approved or equivalent), and full protective gear. Substance is noncombustible.
