Section 3 - Hazards Identification

EMERGENCY OVERVIEW

Appearance: Not available.
Danger! Strong oxidizer. Contact with other material may cause a fire. Causes eye and skin burns. Causes respiratory tract irritation. May cause severe digestive tract irritation with possible burns. May cause cyanosis (bluish discoloration of skin due to deficient oxygenation of the blood). Light sensitive.
Target Organs: None.

Potential Health Effects
Eye: Causes eye burns. Contact with eyes may cause severe irritation, and possible eye burns.
Skin: Causes skin burns.
Ingestion: May cause severe gastrointestinal tract irritation with nausea, vomiting and possible burns. Ingestion of soluble silver salts may cause argyria, characterized by permanent blue-gray pigmentation of the skin, mucous membranes, and eyes.
Inhalation: Causes respiratory tract irritation.
Chronic: Chronic inhalation or ingestion of silver salts may cause argyria characterized by a permanent blue-gray discoloration of the eyes, skin, mucous membranes, and internal organs. This malady results from the accumulation of silver in the body.

Section 4 - First Aid Measures

Eyes: Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes, occasionally lifting the upper and lower eyelids. Get medical aid imme diately. Do NOT allow victim to rub eyes or keep eyes closed.
Skin: Get medical aid immediately. Immediately flush skin with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes while removing contaminated clothing and shoes. Discard contaminated clothing in a manner which limits further exposure.
Ingestion: If victim is conscious and alert, give 2-4 cupfuls of milk or water. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Get medical aid immediately.
Inhalation: Get medical aid immediately. Remove from exposure and move to fresh air immediately. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen.
Notes to Physician: Treat symptomatically and supportively.

Section 5 - Fire Fighting Measures

General Information: As in any fire, wear a self-contained breathing apparatus in pressure-demand, MSHA/NIOSH (approved or equivalent), and full protective gear. Strong oxidizer. Contact with other material may cause fire.
Extinguishing Media: Use water only! Do NOT use dry chemicals, CO2, Halon or foams.
Flash Point: Not available
Autoignition Temperature: Not available.
Explosion Limits, Lower:Not available.
Upper: Not available.
NFPA Rating: (estimated) Health: 3; Flammability: 0; Instability: 0; Special Hazard: OX

Section 6 - Accidental Release Measures

General Information: Use proper personal protective equipment as indicated in Section 8.
Spills/Leaks: Vacuum or sweep up material and place into a suitable disposal container. Avoid generating dusty conditions. Provide ventilation.

Section 7 - Handling and Storage

Handling: Wash thoroughly after handling. Use with adequate ventilation. Minimize dust generation and accumulation. Do not get in eyes, on skin, or on clothing. Keep container tightly closed. Avoid contact with clothing and other combustible materials. Do not ingest or inhale. Store protected from light. Do not store near combustible materials.
Storage: Do not store near combustible materials. Store in a tightly closed container. Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from incompatible substances.

Section 8 - Exposure Controls, Personal Protection

Engineering Controls: Use adequate ventilation to keep airborne concentrations low.
